It really is a very sad day, Steve Jobs passed away a few hours ago from pancreatic cancer. For me, he stands right up there with the greats, people who have made a big difference to the world and my life.
It it were not for Steve, I would not be sitting at my own desk, working for myself, doing what I love - Programming for Mac, striving for perfection.
There is one quote in particular which stands out to me from his 2005 Stanford commencement address, a quote which I need to remember every time I get stressed or don’t feel 100% about my situation:
Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.I am going to continue to follow my heart and passion to make wonderful applications on the platform which Steve Jobs provided to us.
